    Hey all,

I'm very tempted to apply to John's for 2011 PPE entry. The only thing putting me off is the idea that it could adversely affect my application. I know the standard "the college you apply to will not affect your chances at Oxford" and "If you're good enough for Oxford, one of the colleges will take you, even if you didn't apply to that college" - but is this entirely true? There are practical reasons involved in the decision as well- the wealth of the college, meaning cheaper accomodation and the generous grants etc are a definite pull for me.

The other college I really like is Pembroke.

If anyone has ideas that may determine between the two, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks so so much!!

Go for the one you like the best (in this case st johns) at the end of the day, if they like you they will give you an offer :yep:

For most subjects you are interviewed at another college as well, for me it was Wadham, but you can end up with an offer from a different college entirely. I think I remember reading a statistic that a third of those who get an offer get it from a different college to where they applied so don't let college choice worry you.
St Johns is slightly bigger so has more places for undergraduates for most subjects. I chose it for its wealth too.

Thanks guys... I'm just extremely worried about reducing my chances of getting in, simply because of a (bad) college choice.
