    Hi guys,

    I have the following question which I have attepmted but need someone to verify my answer:

    The random variable X possesses the following probability density function (pdf):

    c((1/2)+ x) 0<x<1

    f(x)= {

    0 elsewhere

    What is the value of the constant c?

    I calculated it to be 1. Am I right? Can you show me your working to compare? I'd post mine but I'm no good with latex.

    It is 1. Might be wrong because I had to do it in my head. Is the intergral you got 1= c[x/2 (x^2)/2] between the limits of 1 and 0? if so then I should be right.

    putting the limits in I get 1 = C( 1-0). so 1 = C
