100% love of it. To the extent where I would not even care about the salary so to speak.
Depends on the pay. If I were earning half a million pounds a year as an investment banker, I'd stick with it even if I hated it. Then I could retire early and devote my life to something I love.
A job like that is a pipe dream though.

False dichotomy - I'm at university precisely so that I can study a job I'd like (love is perhaps too strong a word; work is work, after all) that also happens to pay pretty well.
