You don't have to wait for the ucas letter. As soon as they process your application you can log in with the ID number you had in the Apply section.

A week today for me too and im feeling your pain!!! My welcome pack came in the post on Monday - My UCAS went through on the 18th of November which was a Thursday - well at least I think it was my welcome pack - there was a small booklet?
