Hey, I went ahead and bought individual tickets for Glow and UEA Ball. Still not sure whether I should go for week 2 or not since i'm not really a party type of person haha...

Which events are you interested in going? :-)

Week 2 events aren't anything special they're events in the city run by nightclub promoters.

Week 1 events they open up to existing students once freshers have had a chance to buy theirs so there probably won't be the availability.

Events during the day, in the Hive are free, but most of not all the evening events will have some kind of charge. If you go to he freshers fair you may be able to get some promo tickets or something...

I would buy in advance, my experience in past years was that most if not all nights sold out before freshers week.*

I'm starting my first year in September, but was unable to get accommodation with the uni. Does anyone know of any private halls, rooms or the best agents and areas to check out?

Try the university home room site, look on Facebook fresher and ticket sale UEA groups and pages for people advertising - quite a few second years but also first years in a similar situation - it'll probably tell you where the house is too so you can google maps it. The Golden Triangle and Earlham are probably the two areas most densely populated by students as far as I know. Your best bet is probably adding onto another group rather than going to an agent and trying to find 2-4 other people to join you at this point.

    Hi all!
Hope you're all looking forward to starting at UEA! I've currently been here for five years (two to go!) so I would be happy to answer any questions.

Also, shameless plug, I am the social secretary for UEA DanceSport. We are a club which specialises in Latin, Ballroom and Rock 'n' Roll dancing. We compete in lots of friendly competitions all over the country. We're hosting a 'Give it a go' session on Sunday 2nd October and it would be really great to see you there. Regardless of whether your only dance experience is the LCR or (you think) you have two left feet, come and give it a go!

does give it a go apply to all societies?
How many societies does the average student join?
    Is the sportspark any good?
What societies are you a part of?

    Hey!
Most major clubs do offer a give it a go session. However that is up to them to organise. By visiting their facebook page, you can usually find this information.
I was an active member of two sports clubs. To dedicate time to training and competitions, you can't really do more than this but I highly recommend to go to as many clubs as you can in the first place just to get a taste of what you enjoy. Don't be afraid to try new things as a complete beginner!
It depends what you are after. It has an excellent swimming pool and some good squash/football courts. However, their gym leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. It is convenient but there are much better gyms in the city.
I was an active member of baseball, archery and dancesport. Obviously dancesport was the best

Hello there! I'm looking for someone who's interested in swapping for a Chrome Court accommodation, especially from the two-bedroom flat units in Suffolk. Do let me know if there's interest, thanks loads!

depends on what you class as 'lively', compared to bigger cities such as Liverpool you'll be disappointed if you want it to compare. Though few students actually go into the city on Saturdays anyway (go to LCR instead) and tend to go into town on the weekdays eg. Thursday. There are also a bunch of good bars that you can go to. Overall the nightlife is good, but if you expect big fancy nightclubs you'll be disappointed.
