yes and ive rang them- the official line is that you can come from any university aslong as you have a 2.1. But that is the OFFICIAL line and not what they actually do. They have to say that to sound fair. Ive written to MI6 and they actually personally replied back saying "a good honours degree from a top university" but i wasnt sure if that was just their OFFICAL line, although lets face it- theres nothing official that MI6 say! lol

yes but you dont know who i am so it is a secret. plus look at richard dearlove, hes now a head of a cambridge college- hardly a secret if you want to find out about MI6

the salarys look really low on their site. cant believe people with decent degrees would want to earn peanuts

yes but its more because we want to help our country and also feel like the elite. you have to be the elit to get in, and you are helping saving lives without personally taking the credit, in contrast to soldiers awarded the VC in Iraq.

Maybe if you learnt a few languages while at university you could make yourself a better candidate, esp. for GCHQ.

I don't think anyone here is really gonna know what goes on in the minds of the recruiters for the security services, so you will have to cross your fingers!

I personally think that the idea you had to go to oxbridge is from many years ago, and it is probably as they say now - any top uni.

I don't think they just recruit recent graduates either. Have you considered a career in the forces first? i imagine lots of the uber sneaky stuff involves ex SF officers or intel officers. Might be wrong, but it would make sense.

yeah thats what I thought, but I suppose they don't publish all the job vacancies- only the basic ones

I know someone that works for GCHQ and they're not an oxbridge grad (although they did go to a 'top' uni), but keep it hush hush

Yes. But LSE students need not apply as Starbucks is a good 10min walk away from most government buildings.
