tiredness

there seem to be a lot of self proclaimed medics on here, so i will ask your opinion before i think about anything else...

...anyway, as the thread title suggests, tiredness. put simply recently i find i am absolutely knackered all of the time, so much so that i don't have the energy to do anything more than just sit. I work late on mondays and fridays (up to 330-4am) so i am thinking that this isn't helping, i have also noticed my sleep patterns have gone haywire. During the summer I used to be in bed and more or less asleep before 1130pm most nights, now since i came back (3rd year) i've noticed that I am not even tired until going on past midnight/1am, but having to get up for a 7am start. The past couple of weeks i've found that i can't get up at 7 no matter what i try, i get up and turn the alarm off then go to sleep, my body physically won't work.

So, suggestions? Is there anything I can do to try not feel so exhausted all the time? The only thing I can think of that is causing it is my late hours but these are only twice a week, and aren't really later than what they would be if i was out at a club or whatever...

I do look at a computer screen for many hours a day, but i take the 10 mins in 60 break that you are supposed to etc... hmm. it's puzzling me, wish i was awake :frown:

go to ur doctor, maybe get a blood test? i had them symptoms an found out i was anaemic

but it could be a lot of things, tho i think perhaps you working late is responsible for disrupting ur sleep patterns. id go to ur docs anyway they might be able to do summat for u

i've thought about that, i'm not sure though. Mondays i work 7 until 1145 at the latest, it is friday that is the variation. I don't have to be up at all on saturdays and tuesdays so i sleep in a bit... it seems weird that it would affect me the rest of the week though :frown:
sleeping in when you get the chance makes it worse, in my experience any way cos ur body's not getting into a proper routine so you cant settle.
also do you find that when you get home from working late, you cant switch off in ur head, and so it takes longer to fall asleep?

When i get home from work i am ready to put my head down, the adrenaline stops surging and i "sag" if you can picture it  it still takes me about 45 mins though before i feel tired enough that i could actually sleep.

I know I shouldn't really sleep in and "catch up", but the alternative is that I would be a walking zombie for the rest of the day, dave no function well without a good night

I actually had insomnia in my first year at uni cos of working late every single night.... now *that* was interesting....

Diet can do that, I know someone who is buggered up all the time, and im convinced its because he doesnt react well to all the crap he eats.

Dont work, so hard!
If you can't get to sleep go and see a doctor and tell him you're having problems with the "misses" and he'll give you some nice wee pills that will make you sleep

(I'm kidding, don't take this seriously people)
