I really really like this guy, and I have no idea how to tell him. I have no idea how he feels about me, and I'm worried that if he finds out our freindship will be ruined. I really dont know what to do. I have almost no confidence and fake it most of the time. I am really shy, and I'm new to the area, so I don't want to muck up brand new friendships. I just don't know what to do.

The best way to deal with this, is to get to know him more maybe a :study session at your house
What ever you do dont lose confidence-what ever happens. Confidence is key

i dont even know if i have the confidence to ask him to meet up for coffee or anything. i start to say something like that and i totally loosewhatever confidence ive gathered together immediatly(sp?).

right... you are new to the area, he has befriended you, yes? i am assuming you have each other's mobile numbers. send a text with the following:
"hey, just wondered if you are busy on xxx day, u want to grab a coffee or something? trish x"

Guys are a lot less likely to let something like that ruin a friendship, so you're highly unlikely to have any worries there.
Just find a way to tell him how you feel. it'll save you both a lot of bother, frustration and fear.
