Why do people panic

When there is no danger? I know ive posted a similar thread but im looking for the reason behind panic attacks and anxiety. It happened in a lecture again today and after putting up with constant anxiety for about 70 minutes my heart just went real fast! I didn't know where I was for a few seconds was praying that I wouldn't faint but to avoid risking it again I just got up and walked out in front of 90 people, now everyone will think im either strange or ignorant it was the first lesson of that class  I promised myself I would quit today after that but im seeing someone about it on monday so might as well see how it goes, not made any friends yet either since I decided to live at home
Sorry for moaning again, why does that happen though? People don't suddenly get intensly happy or angry for no reason  Fear is the worst!
You sound like you're panicking about panicking... if you ask me

hmm true which is stupid, no one gets angry about being angry (or do they).
Well you could be so angery that you punched a door, then say, you got angery about punching the door...

yea but thats not direct anger at being angry, its more cause you hurt your hand.
lmao, I could be angery at myself for being angery at myself  Not I'm not, so

I don't know the reasons, but don't worry about what everyone else thinks. Most people probably won't even remember it because they're so busy with other things, and leaving if you need to is really not a big deal. You could have left for any reason, so nobody'll think you're strange. Ask the person you're going to see about it.

I get these, mainly at night
Panic attacks, theyre quire common within the population (supposedly)
There is no reason your panicing, you just panic, its a mental thing.

It is a disorder, look at http://www.adaa.org/GettingHelp/AnxietyDisorders/Panicattack.asp

There ususally are no specific causes according to my GP, its just an accumulation of things.
Its kind of in my family, my dad used to have them while driving, hehe.
