as far as I know, tamiflu is not readily available. the swiss producers of the flu vaccine have a long list of nations in line to get a hold of it. I was reading somewhere on the bbc that the government (UK) has enough for all essential goverment and emergency officials.
im meant to be going to vietnam next year with world challenge......i know that if its at all unsafe they'll just send us somewhere else, but it'll still be freaky if bird flu is still rife.....
As it stands H5N1 isn't very virulent in the human population. The worry is if it picks up genes and other bits and pieces from the common cold of human flu strains. Then it could be ramant.

H5N1 is already showing resistance to Tamiflu - it will probably be useless if the strain does mutate and become more virulent in humans. Relenza still seems to be OK, although global supplies are very low.
Some reports suggest it could be as bas as the Spanish influeza outbreak of 1918, excpet its spread rather than being faciliated by the end of WWI will be faciliated by the high levels of transport that exist in the mdoern world.
To be honest though we have least to be worried about what with us being at the peak of of physical ability (well soon anyway) in that if it does hit it will primarly kill the old and young, that is those with the weakest constitutions.

This is true, but I don't really fancy my grandparents dying off quite yet.
