im considering stopping smoking again

any advice, or words of wisdom from anyone who's quit before?

any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Check to see if theres a local quit smoking clinic. Buddy up with someone and help each other along. Make use of nicorette etc... it does help.

Though as a non-smoker, I can't help more than that.

ask yourself do u really wanna quit smoking? if u rly do then i would advise taking up a sport that u need alot of endurance in.every time u feel like smoking just practice for that.the hardest times are when ur out with friends drunk or just bored at home on ur own.

i dont think ive ever quite found anything that quite feels like a nice cig, but havent touched one in ages thanks to sports.

Don't limit yourself, just stop. Whenever you need to smoke, eat a banana or something random like that. Then you'll associate the craving for a cigarette with wanting that instead.

na dont replace it by eating, thats the mistake most people make and thats why they put on wieght when they quit. stay active

thats my biggest concern tho, substituting one addiction for another.
im not even entirely sure that i wanna give up smoking

Dont know if this is of any interest but when my mum was giving up she ate an extra strong mint whenever she felt a craving... it worked like aversion therapy cos the mints made her feel sick after a while, and she associated this with the need for a fag!
She hasnt touched one since (cigarettes or mints!)

Weird but i suppose everyone does things differently!

thanks

ill try absolutely anything if i have to
My advice would be don't bother trying!! :p:

If you don't actually know if you want to, you probably don't - which means you probably won't...

When you want to quit, you will

im having a crisis and its killing me :frown:
i dont want to give up but at the same time i do cos the benefits of giving up outweigh the benefits of carrying on
I've heard that smokers trying to quit find it useful to hold something close to or in their mouth - ie a pen or pencil, as a means of distraction. Something to do with thinking it's a cigaretter. Dunno if it works, but I really hope something works for you - don't give up trying to give up!

typical addicts response.
apparently chewing gum is helpful because it keeps your mouth busy.
altho to be honest, i dont smoke and i cant see that it would be that good...
