Head Girl Presentation

I've been elected for head girl and have been asked to make a presentation about myself and what I'd bring to the role.

I have no idea whatsoever, though.
Help, please?

If you literally have no idea - you probably shouldn't be head girl.
Sorry :s-smilie:

By 'I have no idea', I mean I'm not sure what kind of qualities are needed and the main role of the head girl in our school, as nobody bothered to tell us what is expected of us.

-What do you think a Head Girl should do?
-How are you going to do that?
-What have you already done that shows you can do that?

You're Head Girl... you figure it out.

ooh congrats. I was elected for Head Girl and had to do a presentation too  and I was successful woo! basically what I did was create a massive colourful spider-diagram of all the things about you, like I did -

dog walker, good listener, flute player, confident speaker, sister, school council member, mentor, friend, animal-lover, brownie guide leader, hockey team player, enthusiastic, orchestra member, responsible babysitter, reliable etc... like bits about your hobbies etc

all in a BIG colourful diagram, which I put on a power-point presentation. my head teacher and the other staff present in the interview thought that it was good as it allowed them to see more about me as a person, not just a student and it was also an eye-catching image. they then could ask lots of questions about it... also I then wrote bullet points about why I thought I'd be a good role model and finally plans for what I would do if I got the position!

good luck!

Oh, dear Lord.
I have to say that I seem to be making a mess out of things today.
I’ve been nominated for head girl and then short-listed for the role.
Sorry for any confusion.

research it,

im guessing works isnt an attribute you have in abundance seeing as your come on here to ask instead of doing the leg work yourself.

lead by example would be another quality you lack im guessing

I'm going to have to disagree with you, there.

I have researched it, but most people seem to do interviews and so ask for specific help and suggestions for specific questions. I’m doing a presentation, which is much vaguer and more open than the interview would be, where I’m supposed to encompass everything in two or three minutes.

To be honest, I’d much rather be doing an interview than a presentation.

thats okay, you can mention me in your acceptance speech haha, joke :p: also about what jobs you might have to do - I had to run a committee and create a yearbook, organise prom and meet with any guests coming to look round the school. hope it goes well!

Well what they're really trying to do is see if you confident, possess the interpersonal/communicative skills and perhaps leadership that they require in a head girl, so make sure you practise giving the presentation rather than worry too much about the pres. itself although yeah colour and all would work well. Good luck

Hello,

I remember not too long ago I was in your position  (And now I'm Head Girl)

A lot of things make a good head girl:
Leadership skills, good public speaking skills, confidence, responsibility, being organised, punctual, and dedicated.
Mention this with evidence e.g. I firmly believe I have natural leadership skills and these are shown through my participation in the Higher Sports Leadership Award etc...
You are a role model and you are the key ambassador for your school and its students. Mention things you are planning on doing once you are head girl e.g. organising a Christmas Charity Ball etc
Remember your presentation of by heart and if there is a time limit, stick to it! Speak clearly and confidently!

Good Luck, need any more advice or what I do and get as Head Girl, PM me!

I am what you call an 'external' student at my school sixth form and that means i am popular but not as popular compared to those already there...would that affect me? I have to do a speech of application to the students and teachers, please, what do I talk about?

thanks! xx

Hiya,

Being popular, or well know and liked by your peers if just a fraction of your role as Head Girl. You also need to show good management and leadership skills, look presentable, be a good role model, be a good public speaker and be that link between the students and the teachers. I'm sure if you get along with your peers it wouldn't hinder your chance at being Head Girl.
Your speech/presentation really needs to show your enthusiasm and it gives you an opportunity to talk about the things you would like to do for your school. For example, "I will help organise a charity Valentines ball, this will help get all the students involved and would allow them to help their community whilst doing so. Also, I've have the necessary skills such as good time management skills and good communication skills to help encourage the students to take part" etc etc.
But beware, you must really want to be Head Girl. I do get days were I just think, why!!! But most of the time (percentage wise-99%) I think, 'awesome'.
Good Luck. If you need any more advice just drop me a PM
