Why doesn't it work out? I just recently turned 19 in April and it was 11 years ago.

Yes, mad jelly of Clarence's gym. That's at his university as well... god damn! Ireland doesn't even have any links with Oly lifting so I don't even understand why they'd have it. Maybe they did it for him?

Damn I feel fat now. Need to cut, but want to get stronger :frown: trying both at the same time won't lead to good results..

Welcome to my dilemma. But I need to cut as I'm ACTUALLY getting quite fat. But also planning on joining a sickening powerlifting gym over the Summer. ****. :frown:

I'm sure that Zuzana from Bodyrock used to be a porn star.

And yeah most guys nowadays prefer a nice arse to tits now. Probably because huge tits are either fake or connected to a fat girl's body, whereas any girl can get a nice arse if she puts in some effort.

No, most guys prefer a nice ass.

Maybe its because most of the guys I know are around 18 then

Ah, yeah it does work out, gods that makes me feel old (turning 22 in September).

I also know people from Loughborough uni, and as a kinda sports uni, they have an amazing gym
"we provide and offer a comprehensive range of resistance training machines, free weight stations, ten Olympic lifting platforms with a specific area for teaching Olympic lifting techniques and analysing lifting technique, plyometric equipment, and a 40 metre sprint area."

Here at kcl, we apparently spend millions on renovating libraries (essentially just a makeover) instead of our pitiful cramped gym (bloomsbury is awesome compared to our kinetic gym).

And also I'd like to add (had this conversation some time ago with some guy friends), that a bra makes a huge difference, bad boobs can look good in the right bra.
I don't think the cost is really the issue though. It's just that most people be happy for the gym to have 10 benches and that's it as opposed to some good power racks and **** like that. Plus they're always complaining about people deadlifting. You think they'd even consider people doing Oly lifts and dropping the bar?

True about the appearance fitting the role, that is a pet peeve of mine (the same as female villains or superheroes or equivalent wearing heels and impractical corsets while running around and kicking ass)

Yeah, I'm a big gamer and I'm constantly pissed off at the number of games that put 'armour' on women that shows thigh, midriff and cleavage. It feels degrading to play something where a substantial enough portion of the target market actually finds some 3D sprite showing a bit of skin appealing for them to make design decisions based on it. If I want to look at naked women, I'll just look at naked women - I don't need them shoved in my face in other completely incongruous places.

Makes sense - far be it from me to speak ill of nice breasts, but they're a bit arbitrary. You can have a pretty lousy figure and still have good boobs, or a really good figure without them. A nice arse is almost always accompanied by a good body shape in general. And it's obviously much better for women to aspire to having a nice arse and get fitter as a result than it is for women to aspire to having nice boobs, and get plastic surgery/get fat to do so :P

Well I think in central London the cost of real estate can be quite a big issue. Having more racks, maybe platforms and such would require more space.
And true about the benches, this happened at a commercial gym I went to last year, where due to popular demand and rising attendance they got new equipment.....more threadmills and a cable machine, even though the free weights area was always the busiest.

Proper oly lifting (so dropping heavier weights or failing) wouldn't really be allowed in a gym like bloomsbury. but I've always wondered, how much use and abuse (in the form of heavy weights, dropping etc.) can a relatively good quality bar take? I know bars can be really expensive, but how long do they last?

A good Olympic bar can last a very, very long time if treated properly. What primarily damages them is douches dropping them onto pins etcetera, not weightlifters using them on platforms with bumper plates.
But how else am I meant to do pin pulls?!

We have one at the club that has been in use since the 70s. We mainly use that one for rack-based stuff though. Think the bars we use for the main lifts are from the early 90s and they still look and feel awesome.

Don't be a douchebag and do your pin pulls with bent bars/crap ones. Pretty simple? Rack pulls invalidate the warranty on any bar because they're bound to end up mashing up even tough bars. A guy at PC bent a Texas Power Bar, which Dave Tate says is 'built like a tank' and therefore practically unbendable.
He wasn't even that strong.

The Bloomsbury was about the size of the cardio area when I was in first year. It can be done if they're serious about it. Speaking of which, what kind of idiot decides to place a gym on top of a theatre?

Assuming you have bumpers that fit and you're dropping the weights onto a platform, they should last a lifetime.

Push up bras/padding help. But you've got to have something to push up/pad. Can't make something out of nothing and all that.

My friend's mentally scarring appearance in drag with plastic pasta carton breasts begs to differ.

Also, women and weights, etcetera.

Wonderbras are such called cos you take them off and wonder where the boobs went. Padded bras are just false advertising.

Noone would ever suggest that you guys should stick a sock down your pants, so why do guys push the idea of padded bras? You're the ones who end up disappointed when you realise there's nothing underneath!

That's a pretty good point. I hadn't looked at it that way before.

I know, my ex-girlfriend was like that. I think the big difference is that a large cock bulge just looks awkward whereas I think padded bras often make girls look a lot more aesthetic in clothes.

I dunno is there any official channel for giving feedback on the bloomsbury gym? If enough people seriously demand for better facilities, it might eventually happen.
Haha yeah the location is a bit unfortunate, wonder who decided that.

It would be awesome if there was a properly equipped gym for a group of london unis, that was relatively central in location. I certainly would be willing to pay more than I'm paying for bloomsbury atm, as long as it wasn't anywhere near crossfit affliate prices.

I know I've sometimes looked at/tried on some bras, and wondered where the hell my actual boobs are suposed to fit, what with all the padding taking more than half of the space.
Bras aren't the most comfortable things (I really don't know how some people sleep in them, it's not like they're gonna somehow help prevent your boobs from sagging or something lol, if you wear them during the night). If only going braless was more normal and acceptable.
Bloomsbury will always be ****. Half of it is because it's above a ****ing theater.

Bras help but it's a ****ing disappointment when you're gonna have sex and you realise she has no boobs but you thought she did. Personally don't see why you would have wonderbra etc. YES, it does look good in clothes. But when you're bound to have sex isn't the guy gonna realise and be massively disappointed? I know most/all would still go with it but, meh, it'd still suck.

Whereas you can't really fake a nice ass. That's not true, but I suppose it's less likely they're gonna be wearing some padded knickers although they do exist.
I sleep in a bra, its more out of habit because I was always too lazy to take it off though. It is more comfy braless but I live with a male dominant family so its awkward. I reckon it would be socially acceptable if people werent so bothered by what other people do tbh, going out without a bra would lead to so many comments and abuse.

As I said, I know they exist but with a bra you can even stuff it with tissues. I doubt as many would be willing to stuff their knickers with tissue.

Damn girls and your illusions.

Relevant.

Edit: I think a tiny bit higher BF% is pretty perfect for a girl. Abs are a bit of a put off. I don't know though, not had the opportunity to get with a girl who actually lifts (sad face).
