tollens' reagent
im doin ocr chem and the specification says i have to
describe the use of tollens' reagent to destinguish between aldehydes and ketones explained in terms of oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids and reduction of silver ions to silver
but the book doesnt have anything on it what does it mean and what do i need to know? thanks alot

Aldehydes can be oxidised and leave a silver mirror on the inside of a test tube.
I think tollen's reagent is ammonical silver nitrate yeah.
