The Council. God local Gov't is a hoot. You need to go in and speak with someone, my council has a department for council tax and housing.

They will likely ask you to produce proof from your University. Some university provide councils with databases containing all their enrolled students.

You get it from your university. It's a certificate with their stamp on it to say that you're in attendance.
I emailed my uni for one, and they mailed it through the post to me, which saved me having to go into uni to pick it up (I have to travel 2 and a half hours each way).

I searched my unis website and then sent an email when I needed to have mine. I collected it from the main reception.

If you do get it, make sure you get a couple of photocopies, just incase it goes missing or something.

You can get the self declaration form here:http://www.as.bham.ac.uk/faq/counciltax.shtml

Also explains stuff a bit more. If the council get arsey about it, you can also ask Academic Services to send you a letter confirming that you're a full time student there.

Hope you get it sorted soon, it's gloom personified.

I have spoken to the people at accomodation services and they said I should be exempt as I live on campus and I'm a fulltime student, does that mean I have to still fill in the form http://www.as.bham.ac.uk/faq/forms/counciltaxbham.pdf to get the actual certificate and then mail it off to my council in my hometown?
