Throwing up or not eating?

I'm ill. I keep throwing up everything that I eat. Not nice. I've also got: headaches, sensitivity to light, feel cold when it's hot, pouring with sweat when it's cold.

I've been like this on and off for two weeks, it got better so I didn't go the doc, then I started being sick again on Friday (too late for an appointment). Anyway, is it better to eat and be sick, or to not eat in the first place?

Since last week I've lost some weight due to being ill, and I've been eating more calories in the hope that I don't lose even more weight. I can't exercise because I feel too rough anyway, but I don't want to get really thin.

Thanks!
Go to the doctor's for Christ's sake!

You really need to get to the doctor. If you can't tolerate solid food, then how about soup? Or get hold of some milk shakes/slimfast shakes to drink, just so you can get some sort of nutrients into you.

Phone NHS 24, or go to a walk-in clinic at a hospital near you to arrange an appointment with a doctor.

I've had a sickness bug since thurs night and am still chucking up a bit but I've managed soup twice, and a boiled egg and some digestive biscuits, You should try eating something as helenia said.

Try to drink sugar water or something, anything to give u calories. Phone NHS Direct for immediate advice, or get a docs appoint as soon as possible.

Let us know how you're doing.
On and off for two weeks is a long time. Like the others said, go to the doctor. Milkshakes are good, and apples too- plain foods like apples and potatoes are great for settling the stomach, and hopefully won't make you sick again.
Get well soon

Aw, I feel for you... :frown: You should really go to the doctor. As someone else said, perhaps you could try liquidified foods instead of solids? I think you should try to eat though. Go for gentler foods... oatmealy type of foods, something soft on your stomach.
when my grandad was ill he ate ginger buscits because he didnt throw them up you could try those

First off i m sorry to hear youre ill :frown: Not fun, however you need to eat, try scrambled egg, that is generally ok when you are being sick, or try milkshakes or something. However you should go to the doctors to get yourself checked out, i hope you feel better soon
There are better ways of losing weight. Exercise as part of a healthy diet is far better than making yourself sick after meals. Seriously, Kate Moss et al are not good role models.

Go to the doctors for starters, as for the food its best to try to eat, try more liquids like soup, water, milk, ginger tea.
ill try and find some more

 Have you posted in the wrong thread here or something? I'm not "making myself" be sick, I'm ill. And I **don't** want to lose any weight. I think you need to read my post again.

I'm going to the doc's today... I hope he doesn't dismiss me again as "stressed" this time... Thankyou for all your help

Hopefully your visit to the doctor has helped, but in answer to your original question, I don't think there's much point in eating if you just throw it all back up again. If I'm like that, I don't eat for a while until I start to feel more like I can cope with food, then have something really basic like dry toast. Drink plenty of water - try to have a jug of it by your bed or something, so you can have more whenever you want.
Hope you get better soon.

 Thanks for all your help guys. I went to the nurse (women seem to understand feeling sick more than men - obviously if I'm not bleeding to death I'm not ill  :p: ). She wants me to take every test imaginable!!!! Anyway I think I convinced my boyfriend I was ill by throwing up in front of him, he had to almost carry me home, but then I kind of passed out and when I woke up and went into my bedroom he was gone... He'd just abandoned me when I was ill, his note said it was because I was "treating him badly" - ignoring him because I was semi-conscious from being sick  Am I wrong in thinking he's a tosspot?
