Fatigue + nausea + abdominal pains

Last year I had some problems with eating. I was put on acid based tablets to control my periods, which I developed an intolerance to without realising. I was uncontrollably and repeatedly sick for several months without realising the cause  (I know it sounds dumb, but I had been on them for ages and it'd been fine; I think the fact I'd started drinking had triggered the intolerance but being young and stupid I didn't realise alcohol doesn't mesh well with medication). By the time they'd figured out the cause I'd lost a lot of weight and become addicted to the weight loss as I'd always had body image problems anyway. Illness went on for almost a year.

That was back last year, but I've been having problems ever since with eating - not psychological, but physical. I feel queasy a lot of the time, I get some random very painful stabbing pains high under my chest on the left, and general gnawing pains especially after I've eaten - this is very bad often if I eat what is for me a largeish meal. I'm still sick sometimes but this is rare. Also, I'm exhausted all the time. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? I'm wondering if I've damaged something after last year. I've seen a doctor but they're a bit useless

Hmmm, I'm sorry but I really think you'll have to find a good doctor to help you figure this one out. I have one suggestion for you though, get some E/LFT tests done. I went on Yasmin (I was wondering if you might be on Yasmin seeing as you mentioned having bad periods) and it interacted badly with a kidney problem I wasn't aware of, and caused my postassium levels to get too high. I was getting stabbing chest pains, palpitations, lots of fatigue and nasty tummy aches. Sounds a little like your symptons but so many other things could cause those things. Anyways, going to a doctor and getting E/LFT tests would be a good idea because it would pick up anything like that and a bunch of other things too

Your symptoms sound like mine, except I'm sick quite frequently. I think the stabbing pains could be because you're being sick. I suggest going to your doc and having some blood tests done for anaemia, and also in the blood tests they can check to see if you have a virus or an infection or anything like that. Good luck and get better soon  :hugs:

Hate to scare you but this sounds a bit like an ulcer, so it may be worth getting it checked out.

There are lots of things that can cause these problems, its always best to get it checked out

Thanks for the help everyone  I'll see my doctor and ask about having those tests done! Hope your thing has sorted itself out now Special_Patrol, and that you feel better soon too L.J :hugs:

I thought maybe a peptic ulcer too, as I looked it up and it sounded like it caused the kind of symptoms I've been having - like Special_Patrol said though there's so many things that seem to cause the same symptoms! A stomach ulcer doesn't sound *too* bad though as apparently they can control it with antibiotics now or something.

Will book another appt hopefully with a less useless doctor

OK I think I have neuralgia too - my mum thinks that's what it is anyway. Since this morning, I've been experiening severe stabbing pains to the left side of my face and jaw, and it gets worse if I touch it or try to chew something, I'm also in a lot of pain when I swallow. Could this be in any way connected to the other things, or am I just developing a load of random symptoms atm?? :frown:

sounds more like Toothache Bethany... well... infected gums/nerve ends or something. Do you have a cavity that could have got food caught in it, pressing on the nerve?

I have a similar problem. i have had it for months and the doctors are clueless. everytime i eat i go really lightheaded and feel really sick. then about an hour afterwards i get really bad stabbing pains under my left chest wall. its so annoying. i have been for numerous blood tests but they cant tell me anything. i hate living with this. i know how you feel. have you tried anything?

one of my friends had similar symptoms to this, accept she had diorrhea too, and it turned out to be crohns disease. Her doctor tried to tell her it was all due to stress cos her blood tests were normal, so she went to a private consultant and was diagnosed with crohn's disease. Go to the doctor and get yourself checked out, if they tell you nothing is wrong get a second opinion just incase!x
