Can any one recomend any good sites wer i cud get info about Lady Macbeth. my c/w question is is she a fiend like queen?

Try sparknotes for a character profile. Just to be pedantic, she isn't actually a Queen, so you might want to correct your teacher on that one.

It's not a hard question, however. As she suggested killing Duncan to Hamlet, it's a foregone conclusion really, don't you think? Just back it up with the evidence from the text (Act I, Scene 5 - Lines 38–41 is a good place to start).

Doh! I was researching an essay on Hamlet as I typed out that post. Just goes to prove that men can't multitask successfully.

Women can do everything at once.

Yes, Malcolm did say that she was a 'fiend like queen'. Arguably this is true, because her mind turns to murder at once when she receives the letter from Macbeth, and she called upon evil spirits (which were seen as a sin in Shakespearean times). She uses powerful imagery and cajoling to persuade Macbeth to do the murder, then takes charge after the killing when Macbeth is too shaken to do anything. She covers up for Macbeth a lot; at the banquet she says her 'Lord is often thus', for example.

On the other hand, you can say that LM is not entirely evil. The fact that she has to call on evil spirits to rid her feminity means that she is not naturally evil. She also knows how 'tender 'tis' to love a baby, and she couldn't kill Duncan because he resembled her father. By the end of the play she is sleepwalking out of guilt, and commits suicide, showing a conscience that Macbeth seems to lack. Arguably, she was a woman who just wanted what was best for her husband, and opressed her own feelings so that Macbeth could become king.

You could also say about the role of Macbeth himself and the witches. If this cw is for English Lit, you would do well to say how things would have affected the audience and stuff.

Hope this helped.
