fiestas and cleos tend to be popular with people as a first car. Get something with PAS if you can afford it.

a cheap little four cylinder car that is an automatic with air conditioning, and a decent cd player if you're picky.

Not a chance to get that *and* first time driver under 21 insurance for under £3k.

My metro cost £650 and the insurance for the first yr cost £750 and that was a right little rust bucket (I loved it though ), used to cost about £300 for every MOT/repairs needed to keep it running during the yr.

Get an old fiat panda or something. They are dirt cheap, to buy and insure.

Buy an old landrover Defender/Series 3. Cheap to buy, cheap to run (diesel), cheaper than a 1.3L to insure (even though it's a 2.5L diesel) and I guarantee it will never go wrong. Not only that, but it seats 7 and is the height of cool, forget cheap french/italian crap. (No offence to any French of Italian people!)
