Ask her if she wants a drink. Simple. If she declines, ask her if she'd like one later.

barista is the technical term for someone who makes coffee - not to be confused with a barrister, who is a legal advocate.

he clearly goes to said starbucks and sees her there, thus coming to the conclusion that she works there, and therefore has the job title of "barista"

as to original question, go in regularly, start small, quick conversations about simple things at first (weather, your/her day, etc) create familiarity, once that is achieved move onto bigger things

You could ask using something witty, about asking her out for a coffee and she works in a coffee shop. I haven't had a moment of genius to work out the exact line but being funny is the idea.

I once knew someone who had a big crush on a bellboy.

Unfortunately I don't know what the etiquette is in asking a barista out. Mock her latte?

"Would you like to take me out to a coffee sometimes "

I'm amazed at the amount of people who don't know/pretend to not know what a barista is.
