I'm not 100% sure about this but I think my University sent me money which wasn't supposed to be sent to me. The destination name is not mine but it is similar and the remitter bank is not my bank. What would you do and could the Uni do anything about this?

Just tell them about it and ask for clarification, though check with your bank that you've got the source of the money correct. It's not worth the hassle that this could cause if the money is requested back at a later time.

You mean can the university do anything if you knowingly keep money that isn't in your name or account number?

    Let me help you.

Such an action would clearly be theft and could, hopefully would, be referred to the police.

If you owe the university any money they can withhold results or stop you graduating. When the real recipient realises they haven't been pain the uni will trace the money and find out where it ended up so they will know.
