So, having finished my job in PR and look to take stock of career options. Now, having got a 2:1 in Journalism and having helped friends out over time in checking over their work, making adjustments and I thought of copy writing.
I've heard about copy writing, but never paid too much attention to it.
Can anyone give a general overview of that type of job and what you have to do in terms of qualifications, experience and opportunities atm?

It's an area of Marketing which involves writing copy for various types of marketing mediums e.g. website, social networking, product brochures, newsletters, etc. You have to have a lot of creativity and in developing creative writing which has the ability to influence people.
There are lots of opportunities available out there in 'Copywriting' and I don't think qualifications matter, although the most important thing has to be the ability to write compelling copy. Therefore a portfolio of what you've done during the past could help.
This is what I think because of having worked in a similar capacity for my current company before moving into finance.
