Its not so much the carrier, its the CVG - the entire battle group. Combat Air Patrols from the embarked FA18s at long and short range, aided by E2s - that's near-total air supremacy there, and definitely a more than able match for anything NKor could put in the air, Aegis destroyers with some of the most powerful radars ever made able to see any and every movement made by NKor forces and react to them with Patriots. Not to mention the CIWS placed on every ship in the battle group.
Unless you have overwhelming strength in numbers, going up against a CVG is suicide - and NKor have nothing like strengh in numbers for that fight.
