Tom Waits is still relatively unknown to a lot of people, which is a travesty!!

This song is one of the most powerful and uplifting things I have ever heard. Wack up the volume and enjoy his amazing voice.

Tom Waits is very famous in the musical community. He's not like Nick Drake or Velvet underground, who were very unknown when they started. It's just that the general population don't know about him... Ignorance I geuss.

If you know about music, you definately know who he is.

Edit: I just realised it's one of Waits' later works... his earlier stuff might be a bit easier get accustomed to.

Is that Django Reinhardt?? If so you have good taste, although I'm dissapointed you don't like Tom Waits.

I'm sorry but his voice reminds me of Hulk Hogan, repulsive. And yes it is Django.

I quite like Tom Waits, I had him introduced to me this summer by an Italian friend. It was one of his later albums, which I honestly enjoy more than the thin slightly raspy voice in his earlier work. Just me, I guess.

But hey, if we're going for powerful and emotional, Here's some Etta James - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YApNirMC9gM. Or Mary Wells - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYzYtSYQ4wQ

The Guitar in that shows more emotion than any voice can.

That's ridiculous... since when does the type of instrument you play affect the amount of emotion of a piece?

Why should one instrument exude more emotion than another? Emotion doesn't come from the instruemnt; it comes from the human. The instrument is simply there to channel that emotion.

I did not claim that the instrument the integral part of the emotion, maybe I should have made it clearer that I meant Joe Bonamassa's guitarmanship is the key. But it does help that he is using a Gibson Les Paul Standard.

I don't feel any emotion in that song at all. All I hear is a man ****ing over his guitar skills (which are admittedly very impressive).

    Subjective, I guess.

There is good music and bad music, but that doesn't mean everyone will like the same good music.

But, that's my point... it shouldn't be about the guitar. The quality of the guitar only affects the sound quality (to a certain extent). You can play with emotion on any instrument.
