I want to choose one as part of a present to my girlfriend this year.

Where to do I start? Im looking for one that stands out enough to be a classy present, perhaps something slightly artisic if possible. But importantly is has to be stylish.

None of the ones I've seen really match that description.

She's not into her designer gear, so im open to all brands. Bear in mind this will be one of a few presents, so ideally im looking around the £50 limit.

If you have links or specific ones in mind that would be a great help.

Nica does some lovely handbags, and they should be within your price range. TK Maxx sell them if theres one by you, I recently got one from here for £16 - Debenhams were selling it for £60!

Its difficult to suggest something as everyone is different, but here is the website

    http://www.nica.co.uk/shop/view-all

Next and River Island are also really good for bags.

Alternatively just get her a gift voucher so she can pick herself! (Or get a gift receipt when you buy something!!)

strangely enough TX Maxx was my first point of call. Some decent bags there, but none of them for me stands out as a present. There all fairly plain and practical. Nica have one or 2 i might consider, what exactly is a "scoop bag"?

I never shop online at TK Maxx, but if you live near a store they have lots more choice - not so much on the website.

I think a scoop bag is just one that fits under the arm and is curved across the top.

Don't do it. I would recommend not surprising a girl with a handbag as it can go wrong quickly. Even though you know a style to get the choices are endless and simply looking for one similar to her current bags will not necessarily suffice; just a word of warning.

This. I cannot stress enough how personal taste is and how easy it is to get it wrong.
