    Why not red? Red tie with pale blue shirt is quite a common combination.

    OP: Wear a plain pale shirt, and a plain dark tie. Don't wear a black tie, it's a interview, not a funeral.

    Tescos. It doesn't really matter where you get it from, as long as its ironed and not some stupid colour.

    Red ties can be seen as aggressive. Most people (like me) are boring and conservative when it comes to medical interviews just in case one of the interviewers is old-school. I wore a grey suit, white shirt and a baby blue tie.
