I went to the doctor's with a chest infection and she said it was caused by streptococcus pneumoniae. Does this actually mean pneumonia or could it be bronchitis? She also listened to my lungs and said there was crackling or something and prescribed amoxicillin.

I've been really ill, had a really bad fever, chills, shakes, chest pain, shortness of breath, aches and pains, sneezing and an awful, chesty cough.

Do you think it's just bronchitis? I've had it since wednesday evening...

I'm sure if the doctor says its pneumonia then it is. That said they are similar.

Whichever it is i know its not nice as I've had bronchitis quite a lot and (not that i remember it but) i had pneumonia when i was really really young

Do you think that the internet is smarter than your doctor? How should we know?? Why do people prefer getting diagnosed by people who can't even see all of their symptoms?

I've already been to the doctor and been diagnosed with a chest infection. I just wanted further clarification on something she said which I hoped someone else might have experience of. :fyi:
