Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), the panel's next head, asked the Obama administration today to "determine whether WikiLeaks could be designated a foreign terrorist organization," putting the group in the same company as Al Qaeda and Aum Shinrikyo

It would be great to discuss the reasoning behind this proposal by our odd Congressman.

Do you thin that Wiki Leaks should be put up there shoulder to shoulder with Al Quaida?

Should information be restricted if the government decides to declare them a 'thread to national security'?

Should the public have more difficulty scrutinising the governments actions?

    discuss!

I really do not see how its a threat to national security and our troops based on the documents released so far. It is not a terrorist organisation and banning it would no doubt increase the publics interest as well as being a massive blow for freedom of speech.

Aren't death threats against the law? Some guy in England was banned from entering the US for life because of a drunken (and stoned) email he sent to Obama which contained a death threat.

This whole situation has laid bare the authoritarian nature of the supposedly "Liberal" US government. Truth is terrorism.

While most of what Wikileaks does is noble work, releasing certain diplomatic cables was not a good thing to do. They could have dramatic consequences.

For example, apparently China told the US it no longer gives a damn about North Korea, north koreans thought they were best buddies, but now maybe they become angry and feel isolated, and do something wreckless (invade the south). Certain comments as well could result in trade links being cut between nations, meaning their economies will be weaker etc etc.

So its okay to throw petty names and start vicious rumours, but I guess the First Amendment runs out when someone publishes evidence of your incompetence. Its not like the Military entry codes of whatever were released. Surely the fact that things like the US attempting to bug the UN is good for the international community?!
