# How do you graph polar equations? Watch

1. Is there a way to know/guess the shape of a polar equation by just looking at the equation? I know that there are many types of polar equations...like cardiord, circle, limacons...etc...so by looking at an equation, can I know if the graph will be a cardiord, a circle, or a limacon...etc?

I don't think so e.g. today when doing polar curves I was surprised to find out that: r=cos(theta) is actually a circle but only on the RHS - quite surprising until you actually work it out.
