    I'm starting S104 in January and am aware that if I do well enough I get the Certificate in Natural Sciences. Does this actually mean anything useful?

    Some digging revealed this. The 60 point certs are OU specific, just to show you've completed the course. The 120 point certs are the 'first year of a degree' kind.

    No idea what the relevance is when you could just say you've completed course XYZ. Maybe just a way of heading off a segment of study for those certs that need multiple courses.
