That's annoying - you make all your decisions about where to apply and then kabam, you realise the place you are going is now 50th. lol.

I wish my uni is was at 50, but thats why I want to see them. My uni jumped more than 10 places higher this year and I wanted them to do it again. There has been a lot of restructuring with a lot of schools merging with the 5* rated departments, with these new policies it should help.

Salford has suffered major damage in the league tables lately its about time its out of the ex polys league.

Oh and yes I have studied last years league tables in great detail I am that sad.

mmmmm tasty numbers

I don't really care about league tables they're almost always over simplified or take into account stupid figures.

Alaric.

Sensible people use these figures as a guide, we all have different priorities, therefore it would be in each person’s interest to prioritise certain statistics over others, depending on their own situation. The stupid blindly follow a league table, particularly the overall ranking.

I'd take league tables with a pinch of salt.

Although they do take important things such as quality of teaching and so forth, they don't tell you everything.

Reputation is something that cannot be measured easily. Places with top reputations like Durham and Exeter do not fare that well in league tables.

Imagine a league table for trainers. Based on qualities of trainers - such as material, comfort and durability - Hi-tec trainers may come out on top. However, people will always go for Nikes.
