I was caught doing a U-turn on the M1, will I be banned?

Unlikely - the fact that you got your license a day ago is not really relevent. The law is still the same. You might get some points. Or perhaps a small fine (like £30). Or maybe just a warning if you are lucky. But getting banned seems a bit extreme... I wouldn't worry about it but do let us know how you get on!

Unlikely, although you might have a significant impact on points

They should ban you but they won't. People have died from tossers doing u-turns on the motorway.

Did they say you would have to go to court? Pretty stupid thing to do really, if you get 6 points then you'll automatically lose your licence. No idea about the usual punishment for these kind of things though. You do realise that 5 people were killed not long ago on the M1 because someone did the same thing?

    EDIT: Just found this online
