1. I've been given a question to
solve the following equations on the interval 0?x?2? giving your answers in the form of pi?.

root(2)cos x + 1=0

I know that I would rearrange it to equal cosx=-1/root(2). but I'm not sure what to do after that.
2. Calculator - on.

Shift.

Cos.

Fraction key.

-1 on top half of fraction.

--->

Square root sign on bottom half of fraction.

Draw cos graph.

Plot principal value.

Draw a line across.

Find other points on cos graph.

3. what is the principal value??
4. The value that your calculator gives you.

i.e. shift sin 0.5 = 30

Try it on your calculator (make sure it's in degrees mode).

5. so the are these two answers correct, 127.3 and 232.7
and then the two answers are 3pi/4 and 5pi/4 ????
