# FP2 integration (WTF?!?!?!) Watch

1. 13(a) Find the general solution of the differential equation [x+(1/x)]dy/dx + 2y = 2(x^2 +1)^2, giving y in terms of x

my book simplifies it to: dy/dx + 2xy/(x^2 + 1) = 2x(x^2 + 1)^2

yeah, i don't get that.. aren't you multiplying the whole equation by (x^2 + 1)/x ?

(RHS)how does [2(x^2 + 1)^2][(x^2+1)/x] = 2x(x^2 + 1)^2?

any help much appreciated, thanks in advance
2. probably a mistake I got 2x(x^2+1) for the RHS and got the same thing as the book for the LHS. Are you on edexcel? If so, can you tell me what question so I can check

Yes that means they have defintely made a mistake - I multiplied through by this and got a different RHS but the same LHS
