I don't normally post here but...help

There is a girl I knew from school. We never really talked much at school but became pretty fast friends while at uni. We hung around a fair bit and it was a completely platonic relationship. Then, on a night out, I got talking to her and realised that I'm really becoming interested in her (mainly because of a few things she mentions that she's into and the fact that she looks H.O.T. when she's out at night).

The following week we end up going out one night and just sitting and talking for a while in a bar. We arrange to go to the opera and do a few other things together. She seemed very flirtatious. A few days later we went to the opera and she was constantly rubbing her leg against mine, shoulder against mine etc. when there was no real need to. I would've made a move on her then but I had one hell of a cold so held off and just wished her goodnight.

At this point I fancied her like hell and figured we'd end up getting together real soon. So I asked her if she was busy on Friday. She wasn't and we arranged to go to a piano bar. We sat and talked for ages again and moved onto a different bar later with lounge-style seating so I could sit really close to her. I flirted with her loads but she didn't seem to reciprocate. We ended up having a bit of an argument. Nothing serious of course, just the sort of playful banter that you might have occasionally. Anyway, she was completely non-responsive and we left each other on a bit of a sour note.

We had arranged to go and do some work together the following day (yesterday) and, as I was feeling a bit P.O.ed with her , I ignored the phone when she called me to remind me early in the moring. I ignored her second call and txt and just lay in bed for a while. I then called her back, apologised, pulled myself together and went to meet her. We worked on something for half of the day and then went for a bite to eat. Following that I suggested that we do something (I figured I'd give it another shot but play a bit harder to get tonight - maybe she's one of these girls who likes that sort of thing? Who knows?). She agreed and we met up to watch a movie. During the entire movie she was doing the same flirty things that she did at the opera but I didn't really respond partially because I was watching an AMAZING movie that completely gripped my attention (Lord of War) and secondly because I wanted to play hard to get.

When we left I dropped her back off at her place and she left. No goodbye peck on the cheek. No nothing. Just 'kthxbye'. I would've tried to kiss her had she not been so damn fast to bolt from the car.

Now:
a. I'm confused.
b. Can't be arsed anymore. :bebored:
c. Still fancy her.
d. Got a potential date later in the week which I won't go on if we end up going out together.

I really haven't decided what the hell this is all about. She is very flirty one minute then completely non-responsive the next. :hmmmm2: We've been out 5 times together, 4 of which have been de facto dates and I've yet to kiss her.

Someone tell me what's going on and what she's likely to be thnking. I'm not clueless with women but this girl has me completely baffled.

If you ask me, it is like you are both repelling each other. When she flirts with you, you act like you are not interested so she will get that message. Then when you flirt she thinks you are not interested and does not respond. Then you jsut go round in a complete circle. I suggest telling her you like her. Otherwise chances are she is probably just as confused as you. Mixed messages wont help you :p:
perhaps she's just a tease, or it could be she didn't knw how to act. its all very wellbeing flirty with a guy but if you're not going to follow it up you should tell them.

Give it a few days, and if needs be casually ask her why she did what she did. there may be a genuine reason. If not get over her and go on the oher date (hopefully with someone who appriciates you a bit more)

read your post, and I think you 2 are playing the same game with each other, which will make it very difficult for both of you.. You both cant blow hot and cold to each other cos as they say "two negatives dont make a positive"..
I suggest you talk about your feelings with her and find out what she wants... i.e. if she wants a real deal relationship or maybe she wants a bit of fun

*Agrees with dimexi*
I think you two each like each other, but are very unsure about the other one's feelings - so you need to talk to her - tell her how you feel, and ask her what she thinks. At the moment, you're just exchanging mixed messages and will go round and round in a circle, chasing your tails. Or each other's.
I agree with everyone else....you're both playing games to gauge each others reactions. She might fancy you or she might just feel she's comfortable enough around you as a friend to be a little firtatious every now and then. I'd keep playing it cool if I were you - maybe go on the date later in the week and see how she reacts to it?

Once you've put it out there that you have feelings it's very hard to go back and if she doesn't feel the same that means your friendship could be difficult after...
This is a bit ridiculous really, when she flirts you don't respond so how can you expect her to respond when you flirt. You lack of response gives the impression that you don't like her, just like her lack of response indicates that she doesn't like you. Next time, try responding to her and you might actually get somewhere instead of staying on this carousel of events.

No, no, no! I do respond when she flirts and have done the other times we've been out. It was only last night that I didn't bother.

Punch yourself in the face, then tell her you like her.

If i were you i'd be straight. Tell her you fancy her but you're not sure about her feelings. You have nothing to lose!

Bit of an update on this. She ended up seeing someone else (don't know if they're officially dating or not but they've been out together a couple of times) and have a feeling she was playing the old mind **** games on me.

Which is a shame because I think about her so damn much now. :frown:

she sounds like a bit of a tease and you don't need that.

BTW I like your ideas on dates I wish someone would take me to the opera and piano bars. Impressive!!
Turn up at her house and when she opens the door just give her a huge snog. That way, if she doesn't respond then you have an easy escape route.

I'm just an old romantic I guess heheh
why are you both playing these games with each other?
you act cool as ifs a payback for her not fliritng with you last time!
seems extremly silly and not good if your already playing games and your not even seeing each other yet.

--------------

if you generally liekd each other then there would be no need for mind games.

You're right. Guess it's a bit late now as she appears to be seeing someone else though :p: Unless anyone thinks I should just tell her now? Could screw up what is a decent friendship though.

Still can't get her off my mind though. I actually went to a black tie event last night and met a very nice, very, very attractive tall blonde with all the traits I go for (intelligence, well spoken, similar interests etc.) but just couldn't really be bothered and spent all my time thinking of the other girl instead.

I'm totally ****ed up.
