I'm applying for Graphic Design at teeside. On their site it says they typically want between 240 and 280 ucas points. But your portfolio play a big part in this.

I've just received a conditional offer from them after a pretty good interview (or so I think!). They're asking for a minimum of 340 points which is AAB! Considering they normally ask for BBC this is very high. I'm almost sure my predicted grades on my ucas forum were ABB anyway.

Does anybody have any advice over what I should do about this? This is my top choice but their asking for a hell of a lot compared to what they say they'd offer.

Thanks for reading this far, please provide useful comments

Well seeing as you're predicted As/Bs, they don't want you to get complacent and not work. If you really impressed them at interview, maybe they think you can do better than predicted grades and want you to show you can work hard?

Do you have an AS grade that would count towards the point offer?

this has happened to a lot of people I know, the universities are putting the grades up to ensure the best are accepted. I've been told nothing much can be done except work the hardest you possibly can to ensure you get the grades. 240 points is not that high from what I've experienced 320 points is usually a ABB (well thats what one of my offers says)

Sadly I don't have a contributing AS. I was one of the unlucky lot that received a U in Music Tech (nationwide uproar, bad examiners but the board won't admit to it cause they don't want to have to refund everybody for the remarks).
