i've heard some stories here and there about durham castle, and some streets around durham being haunted. is it true? or has anyone seen/heard of such a thing?

Well the black stairs in the castle are haunted apparently. Some woman jumped from the top where her room was to the bottom in a suicide bid obviously. That room is now called the suicide room and is no longer allowed to be used as a bedroom apparently. The woman haunts the Black Stairs, but seeing as they were not so slanted when she died as they are now, her feet stick though the bottom. I have to say that they do give off a really creepy feel when you go up them alone, and this was before I heard this story. The Norman Gallery where the exec live is also supposed to be haunted but I don't know by who. I have to say I'm not sure I'd like to live there and have to come along there by myself at night.
I would imaging that being as old a city as Durham is might lead to a whole menagerie of legends about hauntings and suchlike.
I know my room isn't haunted, however.
my room is haunted by my drunken twin who died of a rare liver disease he appears late at night when I'm not around, my housemates keep telling me about him

Hehe, what did you think of cuths? Ive never tried a brownie bomber yet, but Eddie has and had the same response as you lol Whats roman numerals? sorry i am unfortunantly quite uneducated in the realm of drinking games!
I liked the look of Cuths some of your 3rd years joined us on our crawl and were really fun. Didn't get that much of a glimpse of it though but the bar was good although the boncers made fun of our pirate costumes. Roman numerals well its best to play it when you're quite drunk basically I's are "Oh yeah" V's are "give it too me" and X's are "I'm coming!" You say the Roman numerals going round in a circle by substituting the numbers for these words, It got quite rowdy though so goodness knows what Cuth's people thought of us yelling these things out in the bar.

Lol dont worry we're used to it...cuths bar has a reputation for being a bit mad.Twice ive gone in there now and there's been guys (most probably rugby players) playing pool stark naked lol
I lived in The Castle last year, and i gotta admit i didn't see a single ghost. Although i was living in a part of the castle thats not rumored to be haunted, which probably didn't help. I have heard plenty of ghost tales about The Castle though, so who knows.
I don't believe in ghosts, which makes me smile when people get scared that they might be living near them. One of my housemates went mad when someone suggested (in jest) there might be a ghost in our house...
