I've recently consolidated my various e-mail accounts into Windows Live Mail, a local client on my computer. Of course, since the messages are now being downloaded, my anti-virus is now picking up viruses in junk e-mail I receive. Is it dangerous to have these e-mails sitting in the depths of my computer, even if it's obviously the sort of thing where you have to click on a link or attachment in the e-mail to contract the virus?

Not really, but your antivirus will keep on giving you alerts so you may as well let it do its job and remove the viruses.
