    Hey I'm new here

Most uni residences appear to be rented out for about 42 weeks. I don't fancy going home for the holidays periods however; I have plans on really just putting my family behind me. I'd be grateful if someone could explain the process a little better to me about how the holiday periods work etc.

The 42 week contracts include the Christmas and Easter holidays, but not the summer. You'll have to check with the individual unis whether your contract included holiday occupancy or whether you can only leave your stuff there. Private halls are likely to provide summer holiday occupancy but the policy in uni owned halls may vary.

Hi Guv'nor welcome to the site.

Some universities halls will offer a summer contract. Just go into your university accommodation office and talk to them about it. They will be happy to help you.

I went to Manchester university and I knew a couple of nurses who had placements over summer. They just had to pay a little bit extra to stay in halls (some even stayed in the same room).

Even if the accommodation office doesn't offer this service then I'm sure that they will be able to help you out in finding somewhere. Just out of interest where are you based?

    I hope this helps!
