I usually run for a half hour or cycle for an hour every second day, at 8-9 pm. Should I eat anything after this? I try to eat dinner either 2 hours before or have a late lunch and then I don't eat at all for the night. After exercising I feel hungry though and I don;t know what I should eat. Should I have a cereal bar or cereals or what do you recommend?

I'm thinking nandos would be perfect.

Nah but really, probably cereal, poridge, canned food like rice pudding or something. Have a few fruits obviously.

I heard carbs before exercise and protein after but since you're exercising pretty late I dunno.

A cheeseburger, I think. That's what all the top athletes eat after an intense workout.

Hi gery2010, when I go for a run, I like to sip an energy drink or watered down orange juice throughout. Then immediately following, I opt for a snack that has some protein and complex carbohydrates. Sometimes I'll prepare a turkey sandwich or make a yummy fruit milkshake with some added protein powder – delish.

You are far better of having simple carbohydrate after training to replenish lost glycogen stores - take with protien.

protien post workout is good but in the absence of quick release carbs it is often used to replace energy rather than repair damange.
