    Hi all,

I just started IB diploma and one of my main problems is about choosing the subjects. I am currently taking Physics, Chemistry, Geography and Maths at higher level but i don't really plan to take all 4 HL and I need to decide by march which one to drop to standard level.
I am not sure about what i am going to study in university but i am very interested in the two sciences (physics and chem) and i plan to enter a course that involves one or both of them. HOWEVER, i heard that maths HL is needed so that is why i am taking it. but i am not that great at it, and IB is all about how many overall points you get in the end. so i dont really know what to do.. help?

It will almost definitely be necessary for Physics, and for some places Chemistry. It would not be necessary for Biology, and for some places Geology.

You'll surely need Math HL for Physics, but I am not sure about Chemistry. I think you might find Chemistry courses that do not require Mathematics. However, as you want to go into natural sciences at uni, I would drop Geography, it wouldn't be of any help for your future studies (I have checked some unis and their Chemistry and Physics courses, and while the Chemistry ones do not require Math HL, Physics ones do).
