    You're first port of call should be your Programme Leader or Personal Tutor to discuss things with them - It is likely that you would need permission from your programmme leader to do what you what you're talking about.

    It sounds like you want/need to defer.

    You'll have to sort out finance and fees stuff etc.

    You might also want to have a chat with your SU (Just in case you feel like you're not gettting enough help from your uni).

    They're the first people you should talk to about this, but I would also suggest that you look into options that would allow you to continue as normal - Not saying that that's the best option, but its certainly worth considering if your only other option is deferment
