C2 Question need help please! Watch

1. The gradient of a curve is given by dy/dx = 3x^2 + a, where 'a' is a constant. The curve passes through the points (-1, 2) and (2, 17). Find the equation of the curve.

Ok, so I'm guessing I intergrate to get y = x^3 + ax but I really don't know where to go from here.

Help much appreciated, thanks

You're missing a constant.

y=x^3+ax+b

Sub in your points to get two equations. Solve.
