Of course it is. Obviously it depends from person to person but most people don't even start looking until after Christmas. All the people looking now are very keen!

In my first year I didn't choose who to live with until late January. Depends really. Do you know who you want to live with etc? Are all your friends looking already?

We didn't sign our contract til just before easter, others I know didn't find a house til June. Unless you're worried you won't find anyone to live with and will be left out, you have quite a while.

I did mine at the end of April, signed the contract mid may, left it late, but got it sorted in the end, ended up having some good luck and with someone off my course.

There's a lot of hype round now about houses running out, but in most highly populated student areas there is actually a surplus of houses and more will come on the market throughout the year, wouldn't worry too much.

Around January, if your at a uni that does exams in January leave it till after they have finished. That's what I am doing but at the moment I have no idea who the hell I am going to live with and don't think I have many options atm. But I believe everything will work itself out.

I've organised mine a month ago but only because we wanted the best pick of houses for our budget and there are hardly any houses near the uni. We also knew we wanted to live together from day one really, we just all really clicked, didn't need much discussion as to who to live with! I think most people at my uni have sorted it actually but i think we're a bit keen. If you start looking in Jan and try to have it sorted by Feb/March you should be fine. Leaving it till after Easter is probably pushing it a bit.

it can depend which city you live in! but to be honest i was in Manchester and there are far more houses than students there!
