University should not be free. IF it was it would need very high taxes and why should a cleaner on a low wage pay for your education. The same applies to rich people why should a rich person whos worked his whole life pay for your education. Thats why i'm a capitalist because i believe people should capitalise on things and make their own money instead of spending other peoples money.

So no inheritance then? Parents should not pay for anything for their kids?

ever heard of positive externalities? A high level of education benefits the entire economy and thus you as well and if you are smart enough you can even capitalise on it.

Though I agree it should not be entirely free to prevent people from just signing up, something around 1,000-2,000 pounds per year is probably enough to deter "free-riders"

True. But it should not be unsupported by the government. Of all the crap we pay for in our taxes, education is one of the ones which should not be receiving ridiculous cuts.

I agree that uni shouldn't be free but I am well against the rise in tuition fees. Keep them as they are.

That logic doesn't work either. Cambridge (rank 1) > Harvard (rank 2) in the world rankings.
Yet Harvard charges 10x more (Yes....£35000+)

Because people who go to university bring money into the country, which benefits the cleaner and the rich person.

University should be free. It was for many years when your fees were paid and you got grants to go. University is an investment in the future generations who will be running this country. There is no way people, academically fit, should have to pay to go there.

[I]You don't object to poorer people paying for secondary education such as sixth form A levels, which is pretty elitist, so why shouldn't they pay for uni education too?
A cleaner won't pay much tax anyway. You don't object to a cleaner paying for primary education-why not?

The same applies to rich people why should a rich person whos worked his whole life pay for your education.

For the same reason that a rich person pays for schools and colleges as well as the NHS that he doesn't use because he's got private insurance.

Thats why i'm a capitalist because i believe people should capitalise on things and make their own money instead of spending other peoples money.

I've got no idea what the above sentence means.
