Whenever my friends take the piss out of me and banter I just lose the plot and more or less go mental.

For instance earlier today I told them about this girl I asked out, I told them her name and they just went on and on that she had the name of a cow and called her daisy and em a cow ****er. I could just feel myself filling up with a kind of rage. I eventually snapped and told them to **** off and went into a massive rant.

I used to get bullied alot as a kid and I went to see a few therapists about it at the time and I reckon its probably linked to that.

I just wanted to know how I can stop things getting to me so much.

I used to be like that. You have to let it go over your head. They're doing it to get a rise and they know you'll rise to it. So just don't. Smile, laugh and ignore them!

    Im like that haha.
But i just ignore it and take the high road.
But they do know it gets me though because i find it hard not to show them through facial expressions.
Just ignore it. It will bother you for quite a long time but it will fade.

Not if she's called Daisy which I think it most probably is. Am I right OP?

If your friends' banter is that bad, I understand you. I hate when people come up with terrible jokes and if you don't immediately laugh, you need to "lighten up". I'm not angry! But I'll punch you in the face if you say that again.

    wtf
    poor banter indeed.

i used to cry at everything.
if you react, more jokes will be directed at you just because you have the most amusing reaction.

just laugh it off, and then ignore
i know it sounds so cliched, but it actually works
you could even make a joke out of it?

Annabelle, I see where they're coming from but admittedly it's not top quality banter but it doesn't need to be if they can get a bite and reel him in as easy as they have been doing.
