People who joined since going to uni: Do you wish you'd been on TSR when applying? Watch

In a lot of ways, I'm quite pleased I wasn't; I took a big risk in my application that would have backfired for a lot of people, if I'd said something differently or caught people in different moods it could have easily backfired on me. If I'd been on TSR, I'd have probably asked for advice and people would have (rightly, to be fair) told me I was mental ... and I quite possibly would have never done it, so things would have been very different.

So, people who weren't around on TSR when they were applying for uni, are you pleased you weren't or do you wish you had the advantages TSR gives?

I joined before I went to uni, but I wasn't very active on the site until the summer before I went to uni. I'm sure there weren't as many threads asking people to chose their course for them or "OMFG it's been three hours and still no offers" type threads, maybe my memory is failing me. I'm glad I didn't use this site as much as I did because I probably would have gotten sucked into it.

    What did you do?
Oh, sod it - if many people are going to ask, I may as well share:

I applied for maths in the beginning and got my offers back ... when I realised I didn't want to do maths, or rather didn't want to do the jobs most maths graduates go into (I enjoy maths itself.) I wanted to do optometry, but didn't have the right subjects for it, but I decided to withdraw from my offers and use Clearing to try it.

Have a feeling people on TSR might have urged me to not reject LSE for the possibility of going to Anglia Ruskin.

I lurked quite extensively between June 2008 and my join date, I don't think I'd have gained anything by joining then, all the information was right there.

I didn't even know it existed 'til I noticed a bunch of people huddled round a computer in the library pointing and whispering at a list of which universities had been giving out offers for which subjects.
I didn't join until after I'd sent my application but I lurked for a while beforehand.

Being a current applicant I couldn't have done it without TSR. Extensive help on the PS, help on which unis to apply to and getting to know the ins and outs of the whole process!

At least now you can say that LSE didn't reject you. You rejected them
