Acer Aspire 5553 Quad Core 320GB 15.6in Laptop

that one. it has a better video card and a better processor. dont go for Acer Timeline X 4820T 250GB 14in Laptop <-- that one, its pretty average. the Sony one has more ram, which is a massive plus, but it has worse other stuff. so go for the acer aspire

When it comes to laptops/netbooks you'll probably be most concerned with battery life, screen size and weight - all three affect each other. After that you'll be looking at specs and contrasting with what you intend to use it for, ie for gaming you'll be looking for a high end laptop with lots of RAM, latest processors and importantly, a decent graphics card. For facebook/youtube you'll be looking for Dual core, 2gbyte RAM, and integrated graphics card or better, though geeks could argue over this for hours.

(Get the Acer Aspire, Sony one is overpriced)

I've had an acer and the motherboard crashed.
And the same thing happened to 3 friends, so i wouldn't recommend it.

    Get this instead: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-VPCEB3J...1497754&sr=8-1

Cheaper, and you get a 2.4Ghz instead of 2.13Ghz processor. I'd check through the details properly though, they seem pretty much similar, with the one from amazon slightly better.

RAM is the most important - its basically space to do things, like running loads of programs at once etc

If you want to buy a laptop (IMO) go somewhere that specialises in electricals.

All 3 are rubbish if you ask me, not in terms of spec but price and quality.

    - Sony one is overpriced. Look at the this laptop from Sony's site - you're getting a much better graphics card AND a free blu-ry upgrade, which normally in total would cost up to £100 and you're getting it for £30.
    - Both Acer's look very plastic, so the build quality is poor.

    - The 3rd laptop is a low spec laptop hence it's high battery life, you need to decide whether you want
    a) an ultra portable laptop, high battery and very basic laptop usage
    b) a standard laptop that is able to do a bit of everything
