What are the best ways to be successful at uni?

How long should you spend on private study each day? How to balance work and social life.....

Work as much as needed to get the work done the best it can be, and then chill the rest of the time. You have to work around how tired you are and how much you're concentrating. No point working if nothing is going in!

    1. Work hard.

    2. Balance work with enough socialising.

    3. Don't be a douche and steal people's food.

    4. ????

    5. Profit.

By asking that question, you've already failed.

All I can tell you is what not to do.
Don't **** around and party every night, don't take on too many additional responsibilities, don't convince yourself your work can wait, don't go out instead of revise every single day.

      That's about it

I knock out all the work as soon as I get it even if it's due date is like 6 weeks away, At least then I can sit back and chill while everyone is panicking trying to get work in.

What kind of advice is that?

        I'd go with ShadowConspiracy's suggestion.

I always use www.simplynoise.com when I'm trying to study. Its amazing at blocking out loud housemates. Also, if I really need to concentrate, I hide my internet cable Other than that don't stress, first year doesnt count...or so I've been told

I'm not at uni yet, but I imagine the best way to get the optimum results for uni would be to balance work and leisure. Balance it. If you work far more than you socialise then you could be unhappy as you're not getting much 'me' time, but likewise if you socialise a lot more than you study then information will pass through you, rather than be absorbed. So yeah, find a balance.

I think the trick is to know when and what to spend the most time and effort on. Time management is very important.

Also to maintain a consistent rate of work throughout the year, small steps day by day for a year is easier than having to take one giant leap near the end when it's exam time.

Learn to manage your time effectively. Work when you have to work and the rest of the time is playtime

Can you explain that a little bit? I don't really understand what it does exactly

Stay on top of tutorials, plan for coursework so you have plenty of time to meet deadlines, go through notes to make sure you understand everything, revise early and revise well for exams, practice past papers.

And I do hardly anything of what I've just mentioned

I get laid all the time, and I'm pretty much successful at nothing.
