Well yes it was essentially the downfall of the Tsar because:
    - It caused widespread poverty back in Russia
    - The railway system collapsed
    - Inflation rocketed after the government kept printing off loads of money
    - The Tsar was made to look incompetent when he couldn't organise the army well

However, these reasons also caused his downfall:
Rasputin - Many were against his influence over the the Romanovs and his politcal power, which caused riots.
Tsar's policies - He chose to lead the army himself when he was woefully inexperienced
Petrograd riots - You probably need to read up on this, basically workers staged many riots over the Tsar.
Revolutionary activity - strikes and the army disaffecting, which lead the Tsar in a very vulnerable position

This all lead him to abdicate in 1917 - Then just reach a conclusion at the end.
